For the foolishness of God is wiser than human wisdom, and the weakness of God is stronger than human strength.
1Cor1:25
*
Be grateful for the open door. Be grateful that you are able to walk through the door to possess your possession. It is a privilege that some have been for days and years been praying for; understand that you are a testimony for those ready to give up. As you possess your possessions, you give others hope that they too will possess their own.
I read something curious in 1 Corinthians 1:26-29. I read that I, who is not even considered wise, wealthy, or powerful by world standards, have been called by God, who takes the foolish things of the world to confound the wise, and the weakest things to confound the mighty. And because of this, I cannot boast in anything other than Jesus. Thus, any open door that you or I walk through is not because of ourselves, or what we have cultivated on our own
So, I thought to myself: I have been made powerful in Christ; I have been made strong in Christ; I have been made capable in Christ. I have been made in Christ. I cannot boast in my own work, for it is the power of Christ in me completing it. I cannot twist myself or mold myself or follow the standard of a world that does not even consider me worthy --- but unto Christ, who has given me value and something to boast in: himself.
Truly, what is it that I have that I did not receive? So, how can I boast as though I did not receive it? How can I boast in a glory for which I am not the source? And why be intimidated by people who glory in the power given to them by other human beings? They do not understand that that glory is vulnerable to human emotion; in a day they can be disfavoured and discarded, and all that honour will turn to dust.
We are not all considered valuable, important, or worthy – whether in general or in certain circles. But God is mysterious and too wonderful to comprehend. And those who boast themselves as judges over the lives of human beings, deciding the value of human bodies and souls, using their influence and authority to decide who is worthy who isn’t…. rest assured that God will turn all their boasting to shame and disgrace. Did he not take the stone that the builders rejected and make it the chief cornerstone?
For such people, all I hear is: congratulations, you played yourself.
As for you, called and favoured by God, Christ Jesus has become your righteousness, your holiness and redemption. All that God is doing and is about to do: it is too wonderful and too marvellous to comprehend with words. Surely, all will see that the foolish things of God are wiser than human wisdom, and the weakness of God is stronger than human strength. And they will concede that indeed, power belongs to God.
