He has besieged me and surrounded me with bitterness and hardship. He has made me dwell in darkness like those long dead| Lamentations 3:5-6|

Do you ever think that your expectations of God are unreasonable?
Often we can identify people who have unreasonable expectations of others, or of you, but have you ever stopped to consider that your expectations of God are unreasonable?
Does his being omnipotent give you carte blanche to believe something will/should happen in a certain way? And when it doesn’t happen, is it a fault in his power or a fault of your thinking, of your unaccommodating beliefs?
How do you reconcile “with God all things are possible” with your expectations?
Is there anything to reconcile?
Perhaps the answer lies in yielding these expectations to God, and saying that powerful, sacrificial, submissive phrase: “not my will, but Your will be done.” (Luke 22:42)
