Virtue. The excellencies of God. A mind that exalts the word of God. Good character. Godly standards and principles. Doing what’s right and avoiding what’s wrong. Moral excellence.
Virtuous woman. You are traversing a winding road that spirals in ways that seem abnormal, but I admire you. I admire your resolve to continue, to push through the frustration, the fatigue, and find the small gems of relief that are the result of your efforts. You pursue what’s right. No, you haven’t always done right, and you don’t always do right, but you are beacon of excellence. Why? Because you don’t remain wading in the pool of wrong, but you clean yourself up, and pursue excellence. You pursue goodness. You stumble, you falter, but every time I see you, I never see the same person twice.
Virtuous woman. Your price is far above rubies. Your value is without number. If I could collect every precious jewel hidden in the Earth, it wouldn’t add to the sum total of you. I am honoured to be in your presence. You carry wisdom with you; it clings to you like a fog around a mountain. In your presence I hear God speak to me. If I listen carefully, I hear him answer me.
Virtuous woman. You have shown me much. Virtue is doing what’s right. Good character, a flow of God’s character from the inside out. It’s the light of God bursting forth in a kaleidoscope of colours: his love, grace, self-control, the fruit birthed after abiding in the vine. As I continue to remain connected to the tree of Life, my outside is the reflection of Him. The good that I do is not my own works, but the works of His Spirit in me, flourishing, enriching, transforming me. How can I stay the same?
Virtuous woman. You have shown me that charm is deceptive, and beauty is fleeting. But a woman who fears the Lord is to be praised. Prov 31:30
